Genesis - The First Stride
The inaugural ceremony of the Association of Business Economics marks the opening of the new
session at MBE.It is adressed by eminent personalities from the world of corporate and academia.
This year's inaugural event was held at the department on 9th August, 2012. We had the honor of inviting Dr Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Director-Economic Affairs & Reserch Division,FICCI who address the gatrhering on the theme
-'India in the World:Challanges & the way ahead'.
Annual Convention:
The Annual Convention, highlight of the MBE calendar, provides a valuable platform for interaction between industry and academia. A current business issue is chosen as the theme for the convention and distinguished industrialists, policy makers, professionals and academicians are invited to put forth their views. The annual publication ‘The Business Economist’ is also launched featuring research papers and articles relevant to the convention theme. The journal is circulated among a large number of business houses, professionals, academicians, business schools and eminent personalities.
The Department conducted its XXXVIIth Annual Convention on 15th September 2010 at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi. The theme for the Convention in session 2010-11 was ‘Towards a Better Tomorrow’ and the sub-themes for different sessions were :
Session I : Inclusive Growth- Pragmatism or Just a Utopia
Session II : Financial Inclusion- An Exclusive Way To Inclusive Growth
Session III : Innovative New Marketing Strategies- De-plugging India
Session IV : Predictive Analytics & Consulting- Improving Insights for a Competitive Edge

Alumni Meet:
The Alumni Meet, held once every year, brings the alumni back in touch with their former faculty and classmates and is an opportunity for all to turn back the wheels of time for a fun-filled night. Since last year, Association of Business Economics Alumni (ABEA) has also introduced the Mumbai chapter of Alumni Meet, which saw a great response from our esteemed alumni in Mumbai and other cities. In addition to the Alumni meet, ABEA now also organizes an annual Alumni Sports event where the alumni play and compete against each other to claim bragging rights.
Like every year, this year too , on September 8th, 1012, our Alumni Meet,"Reminiscence 2012" facilitated the meeting of various corporates, industrialists and academician, all having a common alma-mater,MBE.
Industry Tour:
An important annual activity, the industry tour provide students with highly beneficial insights into the industry and functioning of plants and manufacturing processes. This year, students at MBE organised a three-day industrial trip to ITC LTD. located at Haridwar, Uttarakhand, between the 21st and the 23rd of January, 2011. The company’s visit provided an opportunity of a sound Industry-Institute Interface and proved to be a great learning experience for all.
